From Gateshead to the alphabet
The Angel was installed in 1998. The steel sculpture stands 20 metres high in Gateshead and weighs 200 tonnes. On the coin, the ribbed figure and outstretched wings give the large A an unmistakable setting.
It is a good starting point for a landmark collection, or a small gift for someone who knows the Angel from journeys through the North East.

Both 2018 and 2019 use the Angel design. The date is on the portrait side. Circulation mintages were 220,000 in 2018 and 84,000 in 2019; these figures exclude collector editions.
