Terms of service

These terms cover use of the Copes Coins website and purchases from us. References to “we”, “us” and “our” mean Copes Coins. Our store is hosted on Shopify. Please read these terms together with the product information, our shipping policy, returns and refunds policy and privacy policy.

Nothing in these terms removes or restricts the rights you have under consumer law.

1. Using the shop

Orders must be placed by someone legally able to enter into a contract. A parent or guardian should place orders for younger collectors. Use the website lawfully and do not introduce malware, attempt unauthorised access or interfere with another person's use of the shop.

2. General conditions

We may restrict access or decline an order for a legitimate reason, such as suspected fraud, unavailable stock or an address we cannot serve. If we cannot fulfil an order, we will contact you and refund any payment for goods we will not supply. This does not allow us to disregard an accepted order or your legal rights.

Website content and technical communications may pass through Shopify and other service providers. How we handle personal information is explained in our privacy policy. Do not send payment-card details by ordinary email.

3. Information on the website

We aim to keep product descriptions, prices and other information accurate. Journal articles and historical information provide collecting context and may refer to earlier events or issues. They are not promises of future value or investment returns.

If you notice an error, please tell us. General information does not replace the description of the goods you order, and these terms do not excuse misleading information or remove your right to receive goods as described.

4. Prices and changes to the service

Product prices and availability may change for future orders. The price and delivery charge for your order are shown before you pay. We will not increase an agreed order price without your agreement.

We may update or temporarily suspend parts of the website for maintenance or security. Changes to the site do not remove our obligations for existing orders.

5. Products, condition and images

Our current range comprises 2018 and 2019 A-Z 10p coins offered as Uncirculated. Uncirculated does not mean Proof, Brilliant Uncirculated, flawless or independently graded. Read the year, design, condition and quantity shown for the coin you select.

Photographs labelled as design references illustrate the design. Individual coins may vary. Coin animations are illustrative presentations, not footage of minting or proof of the condition of the coin supplied. Screen settings may also affect colour. None of this changes our obligation to supply coins that match their description.

Content and images may belong to Copes Coins or their respective rights holders. Reference imagery does not imply Royal Mint affiliation or endorsement. No blanket permission to copy third-party images is granted. Contact hello@copescoins.com with the page URL and details if you believe material infringes your rights, and we will review it.

6. Orders and account information

Provide accurate contact, billing and delivery details and use a payment method you are authorised to use. Keep any account details secure and tell us promptly about an error or suspected unauthorised use.

Available quantities and any purchase limits are shown in the shop. We may contact you if an order cannot be fulfilled or needs clarification. Cancellation or changes by us will be handled in accordance with your legal rights, including refunding payments where appropriate.

Where a multi-buy offer applies, the eligible products, thresholds and savings are shown before payment. Returns are refunded using the amount actually paid for the returned coins, as explained in our returns policy.

7. Optional tools

The site may offer tools or services provided by third parties. Their own terms and privacy information may apply, and you should review them before using an optional service. A separate provider's terms do not reduce our responsibility for the goods and services we supply to you.

8. External links and affiliate links

Links to other websites may provide sources or further information. Those websites are operated separately and have their own terms and privacy practices. A link does not by itself imply endorsement or affiliation.

If we use an affiliate link that can earn us commission, we will identify it as an affiliate link. A commission does not add a separate charge to your purchase through that link. Questions about a purchase from another seller should be directed to that seller; purchases from Copes Coins remain our responsibility.

9. Reviews, comments and submissions

Only submit material you have the right to share. Reviews and comments must be honest and must not contain unlawful, abusive or misleading content, another person's private information or malicious code.

You retain ownership of material you submit. For material you submit for public display, you allow us to display, reproduce and format it for that purpose and to moderate it without changing its meaning. We may remove unlawful or abusive material. We do not promise payment for unsolicited ideas or submissions.

Private order enquiries and personal information are handled under our privacy policy. Sending us an email does not give us unrestricted permission to publish it as a review.

10. Personal information

Our privacy policy explains what personal information is collected, the purposes for using it, the services involved and your choices and rights.

Shopify hosts the store and processes visit and purchase information, including for enhanced services drawing on interactions with other merchants and Shopify. Information is shared with Shopify and other providers, which may be in other countries. See the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and our privacy policy for details and controls.

11. Errors and omissions

If we discover a material error affecting your order, such as an incorrect price or description, we will contact you to explain it and agree the next step. We will not charge a different price without your agreement. Where an order is cancelled, any payment due back to you will be refunded.

Correcting website information does not retrospectively remove an agreed product description, a cancellation right or another obligation required by law.

12. Acceptable use and automated access

Ordinary browsing and responsible discovery by search engines and AI search or retrieval services are permitted on public pages, subject to our published robots directives, reasonable request limits and applicable law. Do not bypass passwords, access restrictions or security controls. This permission does not grant a licence to reproduce protected content beyond what the law or the rights holder permits.

You must not use the site for fraud, harassment, discrimination, unlawful content, spam, phishing, collecting other people's personal information, malicious automation or activity that disrupts the service. We may block abusive traffic and take proportionate lawful action. These terms do not impose an automatic monetary fine for accessing the website.

13. Our responsibility

We are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We do not guarantee that the website will always be available or free of technical errors.

Nothing excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or the consumer rights that apply to the goods we sell. Products are not sold on a basis that removes their required quality, fitness or description standards.

14. Responsibility for misuse

You remain responsible for unlawful activity or deliberate misuse carried out by you. Any claim for resulting loss must have a lawful basis. These terms do not require consumers to cover our own fault, pay an automatic fine or accept an unlimited obligation to pay another party's legal costs.

15. If part of these terms cannot be enforced

If a provision is unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply where they can do so fairly and lawfully. This does not allow an unfair provision to be enforced against a consumer.

16. Ending use or restricting access

You may stop using the website at any time. We may restrict access where necessary to address unlawful activity, abuse or a serious breach of these terms. Ending access does not cancel your existing rights relating to orders, returns, refunds or personal information, or remove obligations that have already arisen.

17. Our agreement

These terms, the information supplied for your order and the applicable shop policies describe our agreement. They do not exclude any statement, information or right that the law requires to form part of your contract. If we do not immediately enforce a right, that does not mean we have given it up.

18. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you also retain any mandatory protections of the law where you live and any right to bring a claim in your local courts. Nothing in this section restricts those rights.

19. Updates to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes to the shop or legal requirements. The version supplied or made available when you place an order applies to that order. Later changes do not retrospectively reduce your rights or change an agreed purchase without your consent.
