2022 Nations of the Crown £1 Circulated Coin
Better by Design
Own the most innovative coin ever produced by The Royal Mint. This was the first major change to the £1 coin specification since it entered circulation, replacing the £1 note in 1983. The new coin is 12-sided and has a bimetallic composition and appearance.
The final £1 coins bearing Queen Elizabeth II’s portrait were struck in 2022. Designed by David Pearce, their design symbolizes the United Kingdom and its four nations: Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and England. The obverse bears the fifth and final portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, created by Jody Clark. It is now the rarest £1 coin in active circulation, to have Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II ob the obverse, which you could find in your pocket.
Alongside its other security features, these help combat the problem of sophisticated counterfeiting. This 2022-dated £1 coin is struck in its circulating alloy and finished to circulated standard.
