2013 Benjamin Britten 50p Circulated Coin
This coin features the composer’s name in a stave, as well as the words “Blow bugle blow” and “Set the wild echoes flying”. Designed by Tom Phillips.
The obverse, the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley.
These special edition 50p coins were issued in 2013 to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of one of the most loved British composers. Benjamin Britten was an English composer, conductor and pianist who was born in 1913 in Suffolk.
This was the first ever 50p to show both date and denomination on the obverse side.
